Interesting reply Tim, I've never seen a HDMI to VGA adapter that has an external power supply. The video signals pass right through the same wires so I don't think you need an external supply. I'm thinking that because the failure happened right when Windows was installing drivers that it had something to do with the audio portion of the HDMI connection, not the video. Anyway, speaking of power, I would like to tell you that I have a USB voltage and current monitoring device. When I plug it into the ice cube USB power supply that came with the board, it starts out at 5.10 volts but as soon as you power the board up it goes to about 4.65 volts DC at .65 amps! I tried a different USB power supply that came with my Samsung smart phone and it always stays over 5.40 volts! Your power supply sucks and may be causing other people some of the failures your hearing about. Just an observation to let you know. Good day.
